E-Session: Mike Hummel and Kristy Kennetz

On Friday I had the pleasure of working with Mike and Kristy for their engagement photos. Kristy is a friend I met several years ago through her brother, Tony. As for Mike this would be my first time meeting him. After a mostly rainy day, the skies finally cleared and allowed for some great photo weather. I have to say that Mike and Kristy are such a great couple to work with. They are fun, kind and low maintenance. And I have to say that it was nothing but easy and relaxed for them to show their love for each other. I am excited to be able to partake in their wedding in September and cannot wait to share their big day!

yesterday.

Yesterday I didn't post a photo. I took a photo on my phone and thought it was perfect. Then, I accidentally deleted the photo off the phone. Brilliance. So by the time I got to that point in my day, I said forget it! No, I am not quitting my blog. I am starting to realize that quality is better than quantity. In which case I am contemplating a 52 (week) blog instead.
This is a similar, but not as awesome photo of what I had yesterday.

slacker.

Two days in a row? Haha. I took the photo yesterday on my iPhone. Today I wanted to see the difference with my actual camera. I don't think either of them are amazing. Haha. I have been a super slacker lately.

unwanted.

 

Today I did a lot of things, got a new phone, drooled over a new camera that I want, tried to sell my old phone, went out for happy hour, watched several episodes of Pokemon and News Radio, etc. None of this included photos and when I went to pick up my camera, my battery was dead. FROWN! Luckily I just bought a new iPhone 4 and as far as cameras on a cell phone go, it is awesome!

I like this photo taken from inside my car, with the cool splatter of light off the rain. My lighting on the camera wasn't quite right. But I still like the effect of the light off the rain drops.

We went bowling today. Its the usual form of entertainment for us. I got some great shots. Here is one that I love the most!

a&w.

Today I got home from work and told Jeff to grab his CDs, and get in the car. I didn't tell him where we were going, but we drove down to Faribault looking to get some good shots, and an adventure. Well we got a mediocre version of both. But here is one of the better shots, a giant man who is the A&W mascot, ya know, like the old A&W drive-ins? On a side note, small towns really don't cater much to vegetarians, as my only option was cheese curds, grilled cheese, fries with cheese, or tater tots!

I took several photos that I liked today, but this one was one of the favorites. This dog was adorable! I have a soft spot for dogs. I forgot to ask what this guy's (or girl's) name was! (I also decided to change the way I do my watermark. Sorry!)

zombie pub.

It was this guy's 25th birthday tonight. We started out at Donnie Dirk's Zombie Bar. This is outside!

childhood.

 

I miss those days on the playground. This is at a park, a block from my house.

first time.

This photo is more about the fact that I am finally understanding all of the components of lighting and settings on my camera. This is the first time I have been able to understand and constructively get a night shot, on a tripod, with a long exposure and get the lighting correct with nothing too blown out or too dark. Yay for progress!

washy thingy.

 

I haven't the slightest clue what this thing actually is. It was outside of a gas station. Its color and texture caught my eye! I love the color.

shower time.

Okay. This is my feet in my shower. I had the idea earlier of using the cool monotone hue, and I love shots like this, and this particular angle, of feet and shoes! Weird, I know. But I think its cool!

new shoes.

These are shitty old shoes. They belong to my husband and he needs new ones. But I love the colors! Here they are almost exactly as he left them. I love the contrast with the bathroom floor!

These are lights outside of Chipotle in Uptown. I love the caterpillar on the right of the light!

It was so freaking hot outside. Our friend Gary had us over to his pool. This is Gary, in the pool :)

late night snack.

I said I wasn't going to post a bunch of photos of my husband. But for some reason I wanted a shot of the refrigerator in the dark. The shots just weren't looking so great, until Jeff walked into the middle of one. Once I got him positioned correctly, I got this. I love it!

This restaurant sends out delivery drivers dressed as super heros, and has a 3d menu. Can anything be cooler?!

stars.

 

Rainbow stars appeared in my apartment tonight. Or rather, the holiday lights are still up in our living room. But I like the romantic and simple look.

soundset.

Minnesota's biggest hip hop festival was today, Soundset IV. It took place in a field in Shakopee. The event coordinators try to incorporate hip hop culture as well as music and one of the features is a car show. Everything from hydraulics to low rider bikes, etc. Here is a shot I took of one of the many cars!

graduate.

What better way to celebrate graduation that a kegger? Jeff's brother's fiance graduated college and they had a party. It was a blast. I got a ton of good photos. This is one of my favorites, a keg and beer cup

joe's.

Today my husband and I went on a bike ride to Sebastian Joe's for ice cream! I didn't work my tail off to get a shot, but I still like this one. These are the chocolate dipped waffle cones behind the glass. Delicious! Jeff told me maybe I should just photograph food for a living! I wouldn't mind that much, if I get to eat it as well.

just in time.

My husband, myself and some friends went bowling tonight. The arcade is where I found my shot. This poor doll looked scared to death! OH MY! I titled the shot "Just in Time" because I literally posted this at 11:59pm central time, just before the time cut off of the day! Woo! Close call!

rapture day.

Well the world didn't end. At times the sky sure looked like like it was ready for "War of the Worlds"! Here is a shot of some fantastic clouds, the plane had the perfect route for my shot. I did NOT darken the clouds.

chino wing.

Today I went out to happy hour with some of my favorite ladies. We went to Chino Latino. This is my friend Ali and her spicy chicken wings! What a fun night with great people!

Bright Sunny Day

It was gorgeous out today! Of course that means my husband and I went for a bike ride! We stopped along the St Anthony Main area and found and amazing colorful area of trees and bright, long grass. Here is a shot of both along with the amazing sky!
